E-commerce is indispensable in the global retail landscape. In fact, it has grown to such an extent that superpowers are increasingly gaining the upper hand, at the expense of local and independent retailers – who are the soul of our local community. For this reason, an online marketplace was established in 2019 to allow retailers to flourish in a sustainable way – by providing them with tools, access to authentic products and with favorable purchasing conditions.

The online marketplace is successful and mega ambitious, with a mandate of $100 million from Series B funding and more than 100 ambitious employees of major brands, this B2B online marketplace promises to make a major impact on an international level. With great success in large parts of Europe, they are now looking for an ambitious Marketing Manager who will conquer BeNeLux with a successful strategy!

 

Characteristics of the organization:

This is the first online marketplace connecting brands and creators to all stores in Europe. She is redefining the retail world by simplifying brand distribution. Think of products within cosmetics, food, fashion, electronics, home & living, toys, etc.

The organization is centrally organized from Paris with local offices in Amsterdam, Berlin, Stockholm, London and others and with the speed of growth new world cities will soon be added to further scale up! As in all world cities, you come to the workplace in Amsterdam where it breathes “scale-up”, passion, ambition and entrepreneurship, within a fast-paced environment where ownership is of paramount importance.

So the center of excellence is in Paris, the place where it was founded. Here you will find all the capabilities that will enable you to scale up quickly and with great quality in the regions – such as Paid Media, Data, Technology, Brand. Although the organization believes in centrally combined forces, it believes even more strongly that the actual impact is made locally on the basis of local knowledge and expertise.

 

Where do you step in as Marketing Manager Benelux:

As Marketing Manager you are responsible for formulating and implementing the marketing strategy for the Benelux. You have access to the Central Marketing team in Paris and the best agencies at a local level. Internally, you start from an entrepreneurial setting where you will make a lot of impact on the basis of stakeholder management, where you will subsequently ensure further growth of the team.

What are you going to do?

  • To build!

  • The autonomous design of the complete local strategies in the field of marketing and communication to generate awareness.

  • Briefing and managing your internal and external partners in the field of Sales, Brand, (paid) Media and Communication, with campaigns for PR, Social, Google and an on-site experience that connects to the local market,

  • Ensuring a flawless translation from strategy to operation, creating structure and smooth communication between you, Paris and the external partners is the key to success.

  • Work closely with the global marketing team to ensure that objectives, tactics and actions are aligned and coordinated

  • You apply your own creativity within the branding guidelines of the international branding team – alignment will be key here

 

What will your day look like?

Black Friday is coming up again, you start your day by looking at the effectiveness of the relevant campaigns. The insights are important, because the meeting that you will have with the Global Marketing team will yield important benefits. You take a look at your whiteboard, the entire strategy is solid, but you still see a point of attention that you want to investigate further.

An important period is approaching, of course you already have your agenda ready to discuss with the international marketing team. You put the last dots on the i of your case study to make an important point for your region. In the meeting you will be briefed about the latest developments and a few adjustments to the guidelines. You, in turn, tell about the successful campaign you had recently and brief everyone about your insights from last week. A counterpart from another region is immediately curious and sends you a private message to discuss this again at another time.

You go to your favorite lunch place, within walking distance and right in the center. After your lunch you still have a busy agenda. You include the most important matters from the meeting in your strategy. Before you brief all agencies for the campaigns and the event on the agenda, spar with your colleague from Sales to ensure that you are aligned. After a short break, you ensure that all relevant stakeholders on your side are well informed. You hardly have to tinker with your planning for next week to be able to close the week and toast to another successful week!

 

What does the team look like?

As Marketing Manager Benelux you will be part of a team of 20 senior professionals from tech companies, major brands within Retail and e-commerce. The team consists of more than 20 specialists, in the field of Brand Success, Sales, Product and People.

  • You understand what an entrepreneur finds important and you can put yourself in this position with your personality. It is important that you think in terms of opportunities and that you know how to take people along. You have therefore worked in a dynamic company where achieving results is important. You are ready to help a pure player scale-up grow into a unicorn. You recognize yourself well in the following points:

  • You are strategically strong, structured and you like doing business to achieve results and you combine this with pleasure;

  • You are used to taking responsibility and like to take initiative;

  • Demonstrable experience and passionate about developing well-considered strategies in the field of B2B Marketing & Communication where you understand exactly what role the performance of Social and Search play in this and how crucial structure is for the long term;

  • You have demonstrably achieved growth within a scale-up and are familiar with the dynamics;

  • Experience in developing and managing critical business metrics;

  • Strong personality (taking ownership), well able to keep an overview and flexible to perform in a dynamic scale-up. Good communication skills (internal and external stakeholder management), commercial attitude and an analytical entrepreneurial mindset to get the most out of yourself and the organization.
